Dr. Chen Kugel, director of the Abu Kabir Legal Institute, who last night performed an autopsy on mass murderer Yahya Sinwar, said today (Friday) in an interview with Yoav Borovitz of Kan News that the Hamas leader "had been dying for at least a few hours. What killed him in the end was a bullet that penetrated the head and caused severe brain damage." After the examination, which took more than three hours, Sinwar's body was transferred to a secret facility under the responsibility of the security forces. Dr. Kugel: "He is a traitor and an enemy of the state, and it is clear that there is joy that he is no longer with us, but I do not mix all these feelings with my professional work. This is something completely different." Dr. Kugel, who also won the Israel Prize in the field of mutual guarantee on Independence Day for his and the Institute's activities since the events of the October 7 attacks, recreated the treatment of Yahya Sinwar's body: "The body arrived at us at 9:15 in the evening. We immediately performed a DNA sample and a CT scan, and then worked on the body until about midnight. "But even before the body arrived, we received some information that there was a suspicion that Sinwar had been killed. Naturally, the first thing was to identify the body. For the purpose of identification, they took his finger and sent it to us so that our laboratory could extract DNA and compare it with the forensic DNA because he was a prisoner in Israel. And that's what we did." According to him, "It's hard to know exactly how long he was dying. But I estimate that it took at least a few hours." Dr. Kugel added: "It's not standard to dissect a person like this. When I look during the autopsy and I see the body, I say okay, he looks like a normal person. It's just that when you go outside and think about who this man is, you realize that monsters can look like normal people too. When you handle the body, you don't think about who the man is, but when you step back a little and think, who did I just touch...""
