Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a difficult conversation today (Tuesday) with French President Emmanuel Macron. Tragedy: Who will help 7 tender orphans whose mother passed away on Yom Kippur? Netanyahu said in the conversation that he opposes a unilateral ceasefire, which does not change the security situation in Lebanon and would only return it to its former state. The Prime Minister emphasized that "Israel is acting against the terrorist organization Hezbollah, so that it can no longer threaten its citizens on the northern border, and to allow the residents of the north to return to their homes safely." The Prime Minister's Office noted: "The Prime Minister made it clear that Israel will not accept any arrangement that does not allow this, and that does not prevent Hezbollah from organizing and rearming. In addition, the Prime Minister expressed surprise at the French President's intention to convene a conference in Paris on the subject of Lebanon, which includes the participation of countries such as South Africa and Algeria - which are working to deny Israel the basic right to self-defense and are in fact denying its right to exist." The publication of the two men's conversation came after a report in the newspaper 'Le Parisien', according to which Macron said today, during a meeting of the French government, that "Netanyahu should not forget that his country was established by a UN resolution, and therefore he has no right to ignore UN resolutions." The remarks, which were confirmed by several participants in the meeting, were made against the backdrop of the situation in southern Lebanon after IDF forces began fighting against Hezbollah forces, with several UNIFIL soldiers injured in one of the clashes. Netanyahu's office responded: "A reminder to the French President - it was not the UN resolution that established the State of Israel, but the victory achieved in the War of Independence with the blood of heroic fighters, many of whom were Holocaust survivors - including from the 'Vichy regime' in France. "It is also worth remembering that in recent decades, the UN has adopted hundreds of anti-Semitic resolutions against the State of Israel, the purpose of which is to deny the right to exist of the one and only Jewish state, and its ability to defend itself.".
