Shimon Daniv, whose wife Rina was murdered and he was injured in the attack in Holon, spoke today (Monday) from his bed at Wolfson Hospital about what happened - and his life with his late wife.
"We were together for 42 years, she was an amazing partner who always took care of everything, that nothing was missing. For the children, she had a phenomenal memory for dates, for the birthdays of aunts and uncles, she was always in touch with them. She always gave her all and everyone loved her very, very much."
Shimon described the difficult moments of the attack in a conversation with Leofer Halfon from Kan News: "We went out for an hour and a half walk, we do it twice a day, we like to walk. We saw a group, we didn't recognize that they were Arabs, we thought they were cleaning the avenue. We continued on the path. One or two terrorists attacked me and my wife and I was thrown until I recovered, but I was conscious. I called for help, I shouted 'help, help,' a few people saw us there and they called for help. I regained my composure a little, I saw what was happening, I saw my wife covered in blood."
He continued: "It was a matter of a few seconds, I barely managed to regain my composure. Anything could happen. We realized it was something bigger. I saw my wife bleeding all over so I said to her: 'Rina Rina'. She tried to look but I didn't realize that this was the end."
Regarding his fear of coming to the funeral, he said: "I was hesitant because there was a problem with the catheter being inserted here. I have to carry it with me and I wanted to consult with the doctor and friends. I wanted to, but in terms of risk, you have to understand things. The team and friends gave me confidence. They helped me carry the chair in the ambulance and in the chair."
Rina Daniv, a 66-year-old resident of Holon, was murdered yesterday in a stabbing attack in the city. Her husband Shimon, 68, was moderately injured and was taken to Wolfson Hospital for treatment. The couple had gone out for their morning workout when the terrorist attacked the two.
Avraham Sumichi, a 78-year-old resident of Holon, was also murdered in the attack, and a 26-year-old young man, Yaakov Lebertov, was slightly injured.
The terrorist, a Palestinian without a residence permit in Israel, was eliminated by a police officer who arrived at the scene.
