Maran HaGard Lando: 'Urdu recruitment - a great and terrible disaster for us and for you'"

Maran Grad Lando, leader of the Lithuanian community, delivered a eulogy this evening (Thursday) at the Ponevezh Yeshiva Hall for Maran Rosh Yeshiva, Grad Edelstein zt"l - and at the end of his remarks, the Rosh Yeshiva addressed the crisis of the conscription law.

"בהזדמנות זו", אמר ראש הישיבה, "הנני פונה לכל אלו שחושבים לחוקק חוק שבני הישיבות יתגייסו. דעו לכם - בני הישיבות לא יתגייסו. בשום אופן לא, בשום צורה לא [יהיה] גיוס בני הישיבות". מרן ראש הישיבה הדגיש: "גיוס בני הישיבות - גם עבורנו וגם עבורכם, גם אם אינכם מבינים זאת, ועבור כל הישוב היהודי בארץ - אסון הגדול והנורא השם ישמרנו, ואין לי לפרט".
