A family of a mother and her four daughters, living close to the conflict line in the north, asked to rent an apartment for a period of two months - and repeatedly encountered landlords who raised the price significantly, after hearing that the family had been evacuated from their home. This was reported today (Tuesday) on the program 'Weinrab and Sikurl' on the B network. In one case, the apartment ad advertised an amount of 11,500 shekels, and in a conversation - after hearing that she was receiving a subsidy from the state - they demanded 19,000 shekels, and then 15,000 shekels. In another case, they demanded 25,000 shekels per month - if she did not rent through the arrangement with the Ministry of Tourism. It is important to note that the landlords of the apartments are in an arrangement with the state, and receive 220 shekels per day per adult, and 120 shekels per child. This is while the occupancy grant for evacuees is 200 shekels per adult and 100 shekels per child. The woman has been in Jerusalem for two months and her children are in educational settings in Jerusalem, and now has to vacate the hotel where she was staying due to the hotel management's announcement of evacuation by the end of the month. The Ministry of Tourism responded: "It should be emphasized that there is no shortage of hotel rooms and apartments for short-term rental, and there is even a surplus of tens of thousands of accommodation units, so evacuees have the option of choosing the solution that suits them best. Evacuees who encounter difficulties are invited to contact the Civilian Emergency Management Center established by the Ministry of Tourism. Additional details and information can be found on the Ministry of Tourism website.".
