The Knesset Finance Committee, headed by MK Moshe Gafni, approved today (Wednesday) the request of Transportation Minister Miri Regev, submitted through her office's Director General Moshe Ben-Zaken, to transfer surplus funds from the previous budget year to the current year and current budgets intended for the war effort, in order to finance the ministry's ongoing activities. These include, among other things, the ministry's ongoing expenses as a result of the war, including the establishment of a situation room in the ministry that encompasses all the activities of the bodies associated with the ministry, the establishment and operation of licensing stations in hotels for the purpose of providing service to evacuees, and medical examination services for disabled and heavy vehicle tags. This is in addition to financing the ministry's ongoing activities, including printing driver's and vehicle licenses, maintenance, and protection of the ministry's systems from cyber attacks. Ministry of Transportation Director General Moshe Ben Zaken said in the discussion that the request was submitted in light of the directive of Minister of Transportation Miri Regev, with its budgetary purpose being to preserve functional continuity and activity to continue the war effort. The Ministry of Transportation Director General said that the budget was required, among other things, due to concrete threats created by the security situation. Ben Zaken noted that the RPF is also forced to increase its activity as a result of the fighting.
