The battle for legal reform: MK Moshe Saada of the Likud, former deputy head of the Mahsh party, whose 'Mass law' proposal he initiated was rejected this week at the request of the president, spoke today (Thursday) with Sivan Cohen on 103fm. MK Saada clarified that the legal reform is part of the election promise to the general public who voted for the current government - and emphasized: "I keep saying, we are brothers. Just like the president of the state called me, I was supposed to submit my bill yesterday, the first in my career, and the president of the state called me and said to me: 'For the sake of dialogue, stop.' I immediately answered and said: 'Yes, we are brothers.' Look at the gap, they call me, I am part of the Likud movement, and I hear that it is possible to have a dialogue and I stop everything. This is very important to me, and not only to me, it is important for citizens that there will be criticism of the Attorney General's Office, and I stop everything. "After the conversation with the president, I really believed that it would lead to dialogue, and after an hour I hear and read a tweet from the head of the opposition Who speaks in a discourse of subjugation, of victory. I call the president again and tell him: 'Mr. President, you approached me to create dialogue and what I learn from this is that it creates a heated discourse, that's what I came to prevent.' It saddens me greatly, when one side wants to talk." In response to this, Cohen asked to note the conduct of the chairman of the Constitution Committee in the discussions surrounding the reform, and even criticized his behavior. "I am there, I don't think there is anyone more present than me, unfortunately there is no dialogue there because the other side does not want to talk. This week I heard the president's speech, I said to myself: 'Something new is beginning, I will arrive at the committee tomorrow morning and we will finally have a professional discourse, a dialogue of brothers.' I arrived at the committee, the day after the president spoke, shouting, singing, jumping on tables, the ushers attacked." Regarding the 'Machash Law', which he stopped following the president's request, he explained: "The bill was supposed to be brought up for first reading last week, we didn't bring it up, it was postponed for another week. That evening there was a filibuster by the opposition, I said maybe they want to talk to us. Nobody wants to talk. It's all from a position, there's no question here about what is right to do, and then there's a disagreement that's for heaven's sake." He later addressed MK David Bitan's statement, who claimed that Netanyahu had lost control of the event: "In Likud - in general, the entire coalition is completely united with the reform, we know it will be good - I don't see it, I'm in Likud, at faction meetings. That's absolutely not the case. Reality is one thing and reports are another." Cohen mentioned the anger of Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir, after they did not receive the powers that were promised to them in the coalition negotiations. MK Saada emphasized: "I think this is part of the birth pangs of a government that has been in existence for a month and a half. There is rightly a power struggle. I assume that these things will balance out and we will not remember this temporary incident. That's how I see it. What is important is that they strengthened the settlement, as a response to terrorism they approved outposts. That is the real thing that will remain, this dispute may no longer be relevant in an hour. "We need to see the whole picture. The enemy of the good is the best. I am a person who knows how to enjoy the good. They approved a settlement, outposts, there is the reform. I have known Itamar for many years, I trust him, he is a serious man, he understands, he is currently sitting in an important position, doing a good job. "This is background noise, the reform will pass with the arrival of spring, we will celebrate Passover with Phase One of the reform, and I truly hope that all the brothers will be at the table, all the brothers together. We will know that we did the right thing for the people of Israel.".
