With immense excitement: Thousands attended the Torah Kening ceremony at the tent of Rosh Yeshiva Harosh Alter in Boro Park over the weekend. During Harosh Alter's journey among his community in New York, a Torah Kening ceremony took place that Boro Park had not seen in many years. The exciting event began with a ceremony of writing the letters in the home of the Hasidic leader, Rabbi Pinchas Irte. The Kening ceremony, an event that lasted several hours, was opened by the Rosh Yeshiva by writing letters in the Torah scroll. Rabbis, rabbis, and community leaders participated in the ceremony. The Rosh Yeshiva also closed the ceremony by writing the last letters in the Torah scroll. After that, the procession began, when for a long hour, thousands of people danced with great enthusiasm in honor of the Torah. Hundreds of children from Harosh Alter's community carried torches in honor of the Torah - and the streets of Boro Park were blocked off to traffic by the New York Police Department. The Torah scroll was brought into the large tent, where the dancing continued with a sense of immense exaltation. At the end of the ceremony, a mitzvah feast was held for members of the community only in the Ateret Galda halls. During the mitzvah feast, the Rosh Yeshiva gave a fiery speech, in which he praised the women of the community who were with the women in the hall. In his speech, he quoted the words of the Gemara, "Women are worthy of honor," and emphasized that they are the ones who pay the price and sacrifice their lives for family principles and values.
