Police officers from the Lev HaBira police station in the Jerusalem district arrested a city resident in his 40s last night (Saturday) on suspicion of setting fire to a sukkah belonging to a youth association in the city center - because he was asked to leave it. What awaits you in the huge cultural center that was built in the heart of an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood in Jerusalem? On Saturday morning, a police complaint was received regarding the incident, according to which the suspect arrived on Friday night and entered the location. Given that the volunteers of the association knew him, they agreed to give him food, but asked him to leave their sukkah. A few hours later, the volunteers of the association noticed that a fire had started in the sukkah and they quickly worked to put it out - thus preventing a disaster, due to the proximity of gas tanks placed nearby. During searches conducted by the police, the suspect in the act was located, arrested and taken for questioning at the police station. At the end of Shabbat, the suspect was brought, after his questioning, to the court, which granted the police request and extended his detention by 4 days - until October 18. The investigation is continuing with the aim of bringing him to justice.
