Recently, there has been an increase in the number of complaints from Bnei Brak residents about sewage flowing in the city's streets - especially on weekends. According to city council member Yaakov Wider, who serves as chairman of the audit committee, "many residents complain about the sewage that flows throughout the entire Sabbath, over and over again." This is how it happened: a worker at a school in the city of Torah and Hasidism, who was leaving her workplace on Grossberg Street towards her home, located a few blocks away, stumbled due to a strong flow of sewage, which flowed the entire length of the street - and was injured. Rescue forces called to the scene evacuated her for further treatment at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, where she was diagnosed with hip fractures. She was later transferred to Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Hospital for further treatment. Following the incident, the woman sued the municipality. In order to avoid a ruling to her detriment, the Bnei Brak municipality reached an agreement with its lawyer outside the court, in which the victim was paid 220,000 shekels. The settlement agreement is expected to receive court approval. In response, Yaakov Wider, chairman of the Likud faction in the city council, is demanding that the The court did not approve the agreement. Wider added: "The residents of Bnei Brak suffer from sewage flowing through the city streets every day - and those who absolutely must be punished for this are the failed municipal officials. Now, the officials are adding insult to injury and are also imposing the huge fine on the residents of Bnei Brak.".
