Will the 2022 elections be decisive? According to a News 14 poll conducted by the Direct Pulse polling institute and published this evening (Wednesday), the right-wing bloc will reach 61 seats - despite the new alliance between Sa'ar and Gantz and despite the fact that Ayelet Shaked's Yamina party does not pass the threshold. According to the poll, the two largest parties even after the Gantz-Sa'ar union are: Likud, which receives 36 seats, and Yesh Atid, which receives 20 seats. Blue and White-New Hatikva only obtains 14 seats. Aryeh Deri's Shas receives 9 seats according to the poll, as does Religious Zionism. United Torah Judaism maintains its strength with 7 seats, Yisrael Beiteinu with 6. Merav Michaeli's Labor drops to 5 seats and the Joint List and RAAM also each receive only 5 seats. The list is closed by the two parties that have been constantly swinging around the threshold recently. Meretz, whose party chairman Nitzan Horowitz announced this week that he will not run for party leadership in the upcoming elections, manages to pass and receives 4 seats. Ayelet Shaked's Yamina does not pass the threshold and receives only 1.9%. Division by parties: Likud – 36 Yesh Atid – 20 Blue and White New Hope – 14 Religious Zionism – 9 Shas – 9 United Torah Judaism – 7 Yisrael Beiteinu – 6 Labor – 5 Joint List – 5 Ra'am – 5 Meretz – 4 Yamina – 1.9% And who is suitable for the prime ministership? In response to the question of who is most suitable to serve as prime minister among the interim prime minister Yair Lapid, opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz, 42% of those surveyed said that Netanyahu is the most suitable to serve in the position. Lapid is followed by a significant gap with 21%, Gantz receives only 16% on the question of suitability, less than the percentage of respondents who answered that they do not know: 21%. The surprising data comes precisely when the two heads of the major parties are placed against each other. In response to the question 'Which of the two figures is most suitable to serve as prime minister?' Lapid manages to narrow the gap significantly with 41% compared to Netanyahu's 46%. 13% responded that neither of them or that they have not yet decided. The sample was conducted by Direct Polls LTD for Channel Now 14, on July 12, 2022, using a digital system combined with a panel, among 1,135 adult respondents (aged 18+) who constitute a representative sample of the entire population in Israel. The statistical sampling error is +- 4.4% with a probability of 95%.
