We don't want surprises like in 'Guardian of the Walls': In light of the security situation, the police and the IDF will hold a large-scale exercise next week, as part of which the Wadi Ara Road is also expected to be closed for the first time. You should know: The changes and innovations that will be in this year's Hilulat Rashbi • The details According to a report by Israel Hayom's police correspondent, Itzik Saban, the exercise will simulate a missile attack on Israel from Lebanon and Gaza, with an escalation that will begin in Judea and Samaria and spill over into the Green Line, leading to riots in mixed communities such as Lod, Ramle, Haifa and Jerusalem, and in Arab communities such as Sakhnin, Nazareth, Umm al-Fahm and the Bedouin diaspora in the south. The forces will simulate the closure of Route 65 for the first time, for the passage of takeover forces and special units to handle riots. Since the beginning of Ramadan, the police have mobilized six Border Guard companies, and the plan is to mobilize two additional companies on the orders of the political echelon. A senior police officer says: "We are on medium to high alert, with an emphasis on everything related to internal security and disturbances, including readiness for any external threat situation. The accumulated experience and lessons learned from Operation 'Guardian of the Walls' led us to equip ourselves and build new models. We built intelligence sensors with the IDF and Shin Bet to prevent a situation in which we are surprised." In the past year, the police built a headquarters for each district, with about 500 trained police officers. Soldiers were trained to fire foam bullets. The exercise will also include flying drones that will drop "surprise eggs" (a substance for dispersing crowds) if the forces encounter serious disturbances. Also on the program: practicing observation capabilities that were built over the past year for each commander, and practicing opening emergency depots and equipping the reserve forces. The officer added: "This time we won't have to receive rifles from the army. We have the means to give them to every police officer who enlists." According to him, the mobilization of reserve companies of the Judea and Samaria Border Guard "will be a force multiplier and an equalizer in the strength of the police response." The police and the IDF will get used to the outlines of escorting IDF convoys. "There will be a route map, we will know how to safely transport any emergency vehicle and there will be forces that will respond. There will be no situation in which vehicles will move around the country and endanger themselves." The police claim that the IDF does not accept responsibility. "The police are in charge. The IDF will operate in missions assisting the police." The exercise will be part of Operation "Safe Path" to eradicate crime in Arab communities, within the framework of which the police are concentrating a special effort in the fight against crime and violence on Arab streets. Police sources said that one of the scenarios that will be emphasized is related to the fear that weapons used daily by criminals are also being used by terrorist elements. So far, as part of the operation, 73 stun grenades and grenades, 64 pistols, 20 airsoft weapons, 42 rifles, 24 Carl Gustav rifles, 18 firework hives, 4 shells and mortars, 12 explosive devices and one laboratory for manufacturing charges and converting weapons for live fire have been seized. In addition, thousands of items of weaponry have been seized: bullets of various types, cartridges, vests, binoculars and other equipment that could be used by criminals.
