Knesset Speaker, MK Yariv Levin, announced this morning (Tuesday) that the left-wing government headed by Naftali Bennett will be sworn in this coming Sunday - in the Knesset plenum. Levin announced: "Yesterday, 27 Sivan 5771, 7.6.2021, I delivered in the Knesset plenum MK Yair Lapid's announcement that he had succeeded in forming a government. "Further to this announcement, I would like to announce that the discussion and vote regarding the formation of the government will be held at a special session of the Knesset on Sunday, 3 Tammuz 5771, June 13, 2021. The vote to elect the Speaker of the 24th Knesset will also be held on that date. "I have decided that the holding of the special session and the order of the discussion will be submitted to the approval of the organizing committee." The position of Knesset Speaker is expected to be filled by MK Mickey Levy from the Yesh Atid faction. He will continue in the position throughout the term - under Bennett and under Lapid. The political commentator Amit Segal: "Do you understand why first? So that the agreements can be published by Friday at the latest.". Yair Lapid responded to the Knesset Speaker's announcement: "It's happening. I thank Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin for setting the inauguration date for Sunday. MK Karin Elharar will convene the organizing committee to set the agenda. The coalition agreements will be based on law. The unity government is underway for the benefit of the citizens of the State of Israel." MK Nir Orbach of the Yamina faction has not yet made a final announcement about his decision, but according to estimates, he is expected to support the formation of the government and even be appointed a minister.
