The leader of the Shuvo Banim community, Eliezer Berland, is unfit to stand trial, according to a psychiatric opinion submitted to the court on his behalf. In Israel, speeding is the norm: Why do we drive fast? According to a report by Vered Pelman in Kan News, the opinion was submitted over the weekend to the Jerusalem District Court, which is hearing the indictment against him in the 'Black Oppression' affair. The opinion determined that Rabbi Berland suffers from a mental disorder that prevents him from understanding the legal proceedings against him. About three weeks ago, after more than a year behind bars, the leader of the 'Shuvo Banim' community was transferred from the 'Ayalon' prison in Ramla to house arrest at a secret destination. The house arrest, with electronic handcuffs, in a place that is supposed to be confidential, is monitored by a security company.
