The cell was arrested in the village of Qabatia several days after the attempted attack, following intelligence information from the Shin Bet during a large-scale arrest operation by the Duvdevan unit, a paratrooper patrol, and special forces of the Border Guard. The investigation of the incident revealed that there were two terrorists in the vehicle who planned to carry out a shooting attack with a Carlo-type weapon against the forces operating in the area. The two arrived at the scene in the vehicle armed with a loaded Carlo-type weapon, with the aim of carrying out an attack. During the attempted attack, the weapon fell from the terrorists' vehicle and no shots were fired at the fighters. As they fled the scene, the driver accelerated the vehicle and hit one of the soldiers. The terrorists' vehicle was located in the area a few hours after the attempted attack by IDF fighters. The arrest of the cell members was extended at the request of the Military Prosecution until February 28, 2021, for the purpose of filing an indictment.
