Palestinians wait to leave Rafah border crossing after it was opened by Egyptian authorities, in the southern Gaza Strip. Egypt opened its border crossing on February 17, 2021 "indefinitely" allowing the coastal strip's people passage to the outside world, a security source said. A court ruling prohibits women from traveling without permission from a guardian, such as a father or husband. On Sunday, the Hamas-run Gaza Supreme Council of Sharia imposed restrictions that drew heavy criticism from a rights group for violating Palestinian laws against discrimination on the basis of sex.
