Yamina Chairman, MK Naftali Bennett, this morning (Sunday) accused the Prime Minister of a surge in the coronavirus disease, which is expected to bring Israel into full lockdown in the coming days.

In an interview he gave to Galei Tzahal, Bennett claimed: "Netanyahu came under pressure from parties that represent sectors and interests, and that's why he didn't impose a differential lockdown in the State of Israel. All sectors are suffering due to a lack of courage. Politics comes before substance." According to him, "If they had adopted the recommendation back in March to conduct tests on everyone who boards a plane to Israel - we wouldn't even have reached the second wave, like in Taiwan or New Zealand. They don't need to pray for vaccines, because they simply acted properly." In the interview, Bennett made it clear that Yamina would not recommend Netanyahu to form a government: "This time I say unequivocally - we will not recommend Netanyahu. We will recommend Bennett for prime minister." He explained: "This is not the trial, the point is that lately he has been busy with other things. Is his conduct appropriate? No. Was there a great effort by the judicial system to investigate him and his surroundings? Yes. But the reason he needs to go home is that he failed at the most critical time." Bennett 'stung' the Prime Minister: "Whoever runs to take credit for vaccines - let him also take credit for 3,300 deaths and the highest unemployment rate.".
