An Intelligence Agency report published this morning (Thursday) indicates a clear and consistent increase in the number of new confirmed cases - more than 1,000 infected people per day, on a weekly average.
Just so you know: If you miss this crazy opportunity, you'll be a sucker.
According to the report, even if part of the increase in confirmed cases is due to the increase in the number of daily tests, the vast majority is not affected by the number of tests. In addition, an increase in the rate of positive tests, on a weekly average, has also been identified in the last two weeks. In recent days, there has been an increase in the number of confirmed cases aged 60 and over out of all confirmed cases, which is expected to lead to increased severe morbidity within about a week. All of this, according to the report, indicates that we are at the beginning of a third wave. The report shows that in light of the expansion of the scope of infection - sectorally, age-wise and geographically - it seems that preventing additional easing will not be enough, but rather that it is appropriate to consider rolling back some of the easing that has already been implemented, in order to curb the increase and prevent the pandemic from getting out of control.
Updated data published this morning by the Ministry of Health on the status of the virus indicates that 1,523 new infections were diagnosed yesterday in 70,386 tests. The positive test rate yesterday was 2.21%. The data indicates that there are 11,751 active patients in Israel. 539 patients are currently hospitalized in hospitals - 267 of whom are in serious condition, 99 are on ventilators, and 93 whose condition is defined as moderate. In recent days, there has been a decrease in the number of patients in serious condition: on Tuesday this week, 276 patients were reported, and yesterday 271 patients were registered. So far, 2,883 people have died from the coronavirus pandemic.
