Did you miss me? Ron Kobi, the former mayor of Tiberias, who was dismissed about a year ago by the Ministry of the Interior after failing to pass the municipality's budget, today (Tuesday) through his lawyer Dafna Holtz Lechner, appealed to Minister Ze'ev Elkin - who was in charge of the process of his dismissal on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior - with a request to change the decision, due to claims of a conflict of interest.

In her letter, Attorney Dafna Holtz Lechner writes, among other things, to the minister on behalf of Ron Kobi: "Discussed - the nullification of your decision regarding the termination of Mr. Ron Kobi's term as the Tiberias Municipality and the demand for a lawful hearing on the question of his continued term." She further writes: "This urgent appeal is being sent to you in light of the dramatic development that occurred exactly two weeks ago, when the Minister of the Interior, who was prevented from dealing with my client's case as stated, decided to appoint a member of the hearing team, Boaz Yosef, to the position of head of the committee in charge in Tiberias. "This development presents in a clear, new and unambiguous light the entire process that preceded the termination of my client's term as mayor of Tiberias, and it constitutes conclusive proof of the correctness of the claims of my client and his faction member, Ms. Barzilai, as they were emphatically raised during the hearing, regarding the existence of a fundamental flaw that goes to the root of the matter in the hearing process that took place, and this due to a conflict of interest in which the member of the team, the district's commissioner, Boaz Yosef, was involved.".

Kobi himself wrote this evening on his Facebook page: "Drama, a legal Pandora's box that was opened in Tiberias. It turns out that the impeachment hearing held for Ron Kobi, the previous mayor, was invalid from the beginning, with a conflict of interest. Attorney Dafna Holtz Lechner sent a letter to Kner this evening before the proceedings were exhausted, demanding that the hearing be canceled!" He added: "Interior Minister Aryeh Deri appointed Boaz Yosef, who was a very dominant factor in the entire impeachment and hearing process, as chairman of the appointed committee. Minister Aryeh Deri is whistling in his own way about all possible administrative laws, his entire goal is to turn Tiberias into a Haredi tourist city!" According to him, "Minister Elkin has become a flexible rubber stamp for Aryeh Deri, another stone and a pillar in the sale of the state to the Haredi factions. Tiberias is fighting for its future. This city was robbed of its residents.".
