This coming Sunday, the July-August 2017 recruitment cycle for the IDF's field units will begin. In the recruitment cycle, which began on July 9 and is expected to end on August 17, new recruits are expected to visit the five recruitment bureaus, who will go through the military service process and join the ranks of the IDF. Starting this coming Sunday and for two weeks, the next fighters of the IDF's field units will enlist, with hundreds of fighters expected to enlist on each of these recruitment days. The IDF spokesman said: "The upcoming recruitments practically implement the IDF's concept of being the people's army, to which boys and girls from all levels of Israeli society are enlisting, designated for combat service in the field units, for the combat support formation and for other formations. All recruits are given the opportunity to serve in a significant, contributing and developing service." Here are the data presented by the IDF regarding the total number of recruits in July 2017: • 58% of the recruits in the current recruitment cycle are men and 42% of the recruits are women. • About 8% of the recruits are over the age of 20. • The oldest recruit in this recruitment cycle is 28 years old. • Over 10% of the recruits in the current recruitment cycle were not born in Israel. • 379 lone soldiers are enlisting in the IDF in this recruitment cycle. • 325 of the recruits are new immigrants (immigrated after the age of 16). The countries from which the most recruits immigrated in the current recruitment cycle are: France (93 immigrants), Ukraine (62 immigrants), Russia (52 immigrants), the United States (41 immigrants) and Ethiopia (38 immigrants).
