Who wants to join the lawsuit against the social networking giant Facebook? The organization "Shorat Al-Din," which is engaged in a legal war against terrorism, is recruiting Israelis for a mass class action lawsuit against Facebook worldwide under the slogan: "Sue Facebook - cut off terrorism." The organization is calling on all Israelis to join the lawsuit that will be filed against the company in the US, the Walla website reported.
According to various reports, the latest wave of terrorism is being fueled in part by social media, led by Facebook, the world's most popular social network - from anti-Semitic videos and cartoons to Facebook pages that incite users to carry out attacks, including clear instructions on how to stab Jews.
For example, the terrorist, 19-year-old Muhand Halabi, posted on his profile that the third intifada had broken out, and that the war was now on the Al-Aqsa Mosque. A day later, he murdered Aharon Benita and Rabbi Nehemiah Lavi.
The long-term plan of the Shurat Al-Din organization is to succeed in issuing an injunction against Facebook to close all incitement pages, an order ordering them to monitor the means of incitement and block them, and also to hold them responsible for keeping the terrorists' pages online.
The organization stated: "Facebook has the means to investigate and monitor every word written on the site. It is not possible for entire pages on Facebook to be dedicated to incitement to murder Jews and for terrorists to publish posts that will become popular among their friends and encourage them to murder. The fact that Facebook is becoming a tool for encouraging incitement and harming Jews is an absurdity that we do not intend to allow to continue.".
Joining the lawsuit is free of charge, and it is being handled by a New York law firm. The case is being examined with the utmost seriousness from a legal perspective, the organization clarifies, and it also calls on the public to send as many examples of incitement on Facebook as possible, so that they can be used in the planned lawsuit. "Every Israeli who is currently sitting at home has something to do against terrorism," said Attorney Nitzana Darshan Leitner, chairwoman of the organization, "Join us now.".
Facebook responded: "We want people to feel safe when using Facebook. We have no place for content that encourages violence, direct threats, terrorism, or hate speech. As a community of nearly 1.5 billion people, we have defined a set of universal rules to help people understand what is and is not allowed on Facebook. We encourage people to use our reporting tools if they find content that they believe violates the rules so that we can review and take action quickly.".
