Klumiti Y.D. served as a regional defense fighter in Battalion 8881 in the Ephraim Brigade, and was injured by gunfire carried out by the terrorist during the killing spree in the area.

Another reserve soldier was seriously injured in the incident. The injured person is the coordinator of ongoing military security for the settlement of Tzur Natan, who was hit during an exchange of gunfire with the terrorist at the same scene.

Five people were injured in the shooting attack that took place at several locations near the communities of Kochav Yair, Tzur Yitzhak and Tzur Natan.

Among the injured were two men who were seriously injured and arrived at Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba in critical condition and were admitted to operating rooms.

The investigation into the attack indicates that the terrorist, Omar Yassin, an Arab-Israeli, 21, a resident of Taiba, left his home at 10:30 AM, driving a stolen Israeli gray pickup truck with a yellow license plate - and began a shooting spree in several areas.

At approximately 10:36 AM, the police received a report of a shooting at a gas station and a fast food restaurant near the entrance to Kochav Yair.

Upon receiving the report, the district commander, Superintendent Amir Cohen, declared a terrorist incident and rushed large forces from the Central District, Border Guard soldiers, and other security officials to the scene.

Meanwhile, the terrorist opened fire on civilians at a gas station in the Tzur Yigal area, wounding two people, and continued driving toward Tzur Yitzhak, where he shot at the guard post at the entrance to the settlement and wounded another civilian. He later reached Tzur Natan, and fired another shot at the guard post, wounding the guard and a civilian nearby, and then continued to shoot at reservist Chaim Klumiti, who was traveling in his vehicle, causing his death.

The terrorist later reached the entrance to the settlement of Selait, where he fired at the guard post. The settlement's police chief attempted to make contact, returned fire, and exchanged gunfire with the terrorist, after which the terrorist fled the scene.

At the same time, Central District police and Border Guard soldiers, together with IDF forces and readiness squads, carried out blockades, searches, and extensive operational operations to locate the terrorist, accompanied by a police helicopter that scanned from the air.

At 11:03, the terrorist was identified by police officers from the Taibeh station, who began a pursuit and neutralized and eliminated him in an open area in the quarry area between Tzur Natan and Taibeh.

As part of the investigation into the attack, members of the terrorist's family were arrested and brought in for questioning.

Detectives from the Sharon Police Department and police officers from the Tira Police Station arrested another suspect for aiding a terrorist. At the conclusion of the investigation, and based on its findings, he will be remanded in custody.

Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir: "My heart broke upon receiving the difficult news of the murder of Maj. Gen. (Res.) Chaim Klumiti in the murderous attack this morning in Sharon.

""Haim the 14th, a hero of Israel. A member of the alert squad who did not wait for someone else to protect, but charged towards the terrorists, striving for contact and fighting bravely to save lives. With his courageous action, he prevented a much greater disaster.".

""This attack illustrates in the most painful way what we say all the time: the emergency squads are a force multiplier that saves lives. Hundreds of emergency squad volunteers who went out to attack at the moment of truth this morning, we will continue to strengthen them, equip them and provide them with all the tools necessary to protect the citizens of Israel.

""I send my deepest condolences to the dear family, and pray together with the entire people of Israel for the complete recovery of the injured. May his memory be blessed.".
