The IDF's ground maneuvers in southern Lebanon are in dramatic expansion: Kan News reported this evening (Saturday night) that the special operation, the planning of which began more than a year ago, includes activity north of the Litani River.

As part of the operation, the IDF occupied territory, built at least five bridges over the Litani, and broke through roads through the Lebanese thickets and boulders with engineering forces, which allowed the passage of large forces to the other side of the river.

The goal of the operation is to remove the threat of direct anti-tank missiles towards the settlements of the Galilee, and especially towards Metula, since the area through which IDF forces are moving controls the settlement through observation and fire.

The report also stated that the IDF attempted to carry out this operation two months ago with Division 98, but the fighters encountered Hezbollah ambushes. The plans were not good enough and the commander of the Northern Command, Major General Rafi Milo, ordered the operation to be canceled and transferred to Division 36, which replanned it.

According to the report, at the beginning of the current maneuver, there were clashes between fighters and Hezbollah terrorists - including two deaths and one injury. However, in recent days, according to reports in Lebanon, IDF forces have reached the ridgeline in the Yochmor area, the Beaufort Fortress, and the Zutar area.

This is also the reason why the IDF this week ordered Lebanese residents to evacuate the city of Nabatia and the nearby villages.

The IDF says that in the area where the forces are operating north of the Litani, there are significant Hezbollah centers of gravity, which are being used by the Badr unit.

Rockets and explosive drones are launched from this area.
