Degel Hatorah Chairman, MK Moshe Gafni, attacked Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri and Attorney Gali Baharav Meyara this morning (Thursday) in an interview given by Leakey Adamker and Israel Cohen on Kol Bramah radio.
""I'm seething with rage," said Gafni. "There was a decision to go into opposition and give up positions - and Shas is not up to it. We left and they didn't give up. They continue to run the ministries and openly say they are in the coalition.".
Gafni accused: "Shas does not want Ashkenazi rabbis. I asked Deri to sit down and he is in no way willing.".
Regarding the opinion of Attorney Bahar Meyara, that institutions where conscripts study will no longer be eligible to grant tax benefits to donors, he said: "The Attorney General's decision joins a list of decisions that have no legal logic. No body not connected to the ultra-Orthodox would do such a thing. I don't understand how the Prime Minister keeps this woman in office, she is really anti-Semitic. He should issue a statement not to cooperate with her, she is fired.".
He added: "The attorney general doesn't believe in studying Torah, she's not interested in this government, she's not hiding her position, she wants us not to have the right to vote. It will come.".
MK Michael Malchieli responded to MK Gafni's attack on Deri: "While you are publishing lies, you are forgetting the truth and facts.
""For now, the only Haredi government member in Israel who is serving in office is a member of Gafni's party. For now, the only former committee chairman who remains in his office and sits in the room of the chairman of the Finance Committee is Gafni. Screw yourself and then screw others.".
""You, Gafni, only woke up when you made an effort and came to the Knesset at 1 a.m. to fight and oppose the transfer of large budgets for the construction of mikvahs across the country. By the grace of God, you did not succeed, and with the help of God, we were able to significantly strengthen the entire system of mikvahs in Israel.".
""The Shas movement, which receives instructions and directives solely from the rabbi of the Council of Torah Sages, will continue to lead on fundamental issues. It is sad and painful that while the world of Torah is in danger and your friends are working alongside us to take care of the needs of the public, you find time to lash out and seek headlines.".
