The IDF banned soldiers from a military band from singing "Song for Peace" at an event marking the 30th anniversary of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin.

Yael Dan, a former presenter on Galei Tzahal, spoke about this on the program 'War Zone' hosted by Raviv Druker on Channel 13: "So the other day we were sitting with friends, and Shashi Keshet said that he was supposed to perform on the evening in memory of Lior Vishinsky, and on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Nahal Band, he was asked to sing songs from the band. So he gave the list that he wanted to sing, Nahal songs, and they told him, 'Great, 'Song for Peace' is not allowed.' The band's commander disqualified him from singing the song.".

Matan Khudorov: This is Rabin's song, the song that sealed Rabin's life before the assassination.

Drucker: Let's remember, Gandhi also banned the song from being broadcast in Central Command, and the podcast tells how the band waits for Gandhi to leave the performance, so they can sing the song. Fifty years later, in the IDF, they also tell the Six of Keshet, this song is forbidden to be played in the IDF, they say, the song is forbidden to be played...

We asked for a response, it took a whole day, and we were told that 'there is no directive not to sing a song for peace in the IDF' and they explained to us behind the scenes that it was simply not in the band's repertoire...

Yael: They don't know the notes, they don't know how to play it... I mean, look what happened to Shalom, soon they won't even be able to pronounce the word Shalom...

Drucker: To Shashi's credit, he canceled his participation in light of this, if I understand correctly, and I hope that's the case, if they cancel your "Song for Peace." Why are you objecting to this song, Razi?

Razi Barkai: "Bring the day.".

Yael: "Bring peace," as if it was supposed to come from G-d, not from people...

Drucker: Crazy. As mentioned, the IDF spokesman says there is no such sweeping response, it's just that it's not in the repertoire...
