While Arab countries publicly condemned the war in Gaza, behind the scenes they expanded security cooperation with Israel.

A report this evening (Saturday night) in the Washington Post - based on American documents, including presentations from the United States Central Command - revealed what the American military called: a "regional security structure.".

The structure includes Israel, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The documents also mention Kuwait and Oman as "possible partners.".

According to the report - cited in 'Kan News', the presentations are dated between 2022 and 2025, and document secret meetings between senior officials, joint training, and intelligence cooperation.

The documents indicate that in May 2024, senior Israeli and Arab officials met at the American Al-Udeid base in Qatar.

A plan for the meeting written two days before it took place shows that the Israeli delegation landed directly at the military base and bypassed the civilian airports, to avoid public exposure.

The document suggests that the Iranian threat was behind the strengthening of ties, which was carried out under the auspices of the American military. The documents state that the partnership "does not constitute an alliance" between the companies, and that "all meetings will be held in secret.".

Saudi Arabia, the documents show, shared intelligence on a variety of issues with Israel and other countries. In 2025, Saudi Arabia revealed an intelligence review to its partners on the coup in Syria. The briefing also addressed the Houthi threat.

The documents indicate that the American military is interested in strengthening cooperation between Israel and Arab countries in the coming years.

A former senior US defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the newspaper that these meetings reflect the Gulf Arab states' pragmatic ties with Israel - and the respect they have for its military capabilities.

""Everyone seems to think that the Israelis can do whatever they want, whenever they want, without being discovered," the former official said.
