Towards the year 2016: The Population and Immigration Authority published today (Sunday) the list of the most common names given to children born in Israel during 2015.
The data shows that traditional names alongside modern names continue to lead the choice of parents in Israel, with some of the names also influenced by the national atmosphere of the past year.
In the general list of boys, the name Muhammad leads, followed by Joseph, and Adam is in third place.
The names David and Levi are particularly prominent, with "Lavi" jumping to the top spots, possibly due to the "Am Kalavi" campaign. The names Ariel, Omer, Rafael, Uri and Yehuda are also included in the top ten.
Among the Jewish sector, the name Lavi took first place, followed by Ariel and David. The list is completed by Rafael, Uri, Yehuda, Elia, Ari, Eitan and Michael.
Among girls, the name Abigail continues to lead both in the general list and among the Jewish sector.
The general list also includes Miriam, Livi, Tamar, Sara, Lia, Yael, Ella, Ayla and Noa.
In the Jewish sector, alongside Abigail and Tamar, Livi, Yael, Sara, Ella, Noa, Lia, Ayla and Esther also star.
