To weaken: Opposition leader Yair Lapid said in a statement to the media this evening (Tuesday) that he is warning the citizens of Israel, "a warning based on intelligence and operational information to which I am exposed by virtue of my position" - that the government "failed in the war in Gaza."

According to Lapid, "This is not a complete victory, this is a complete disaster. This is a strategic failure that leads to operational and political failure. Our fighters are lions and they are heroes, they did their job above and beyond, but the Israeli government no longer knows how to explain why soldiers continue to die in Gaza."
Lapid claimed: "If we don't end the war now, the kidnapped will not return, the IDF will continue to lose its best fighters, the humanitarian disaster will worsen, the world will close itself off to Israelis. It doesn't have to be like this. There is an alternative to what is happening now. The right solution is to make a comprehensive hostage deal and leave Gaza. The IDF will sit on the perimeter, and from there it will do the work of eliminating Hamas. Gaza will be run by a coalition of moderate Arab countries led by Egypt."
Lapid attacked: "The military campaign has gotten out of control. We are capturing Khan Yunis for the fourth time, Jabaliya for the third time. Every time we leave, Hamas arrives, capturing roads and houses, and waiting for us to return. The strategy to free the hostages has failed. Military pressure is not bringing them, depriving them of food and medicine from Gaza will not bring them, endless negotiations on a partial deal will not bring them. What will bring them home is the end of the war."
According to Lapid, "The management of humanitarian aid in Gaza has collapsed. It simply doesn't work. Israel needs to make sure there is no hunger in Gaza. Both because these are the values of the Jewish people, and because there is no reason for us to help Hamas' campaign."
Education Minister Yoav Kish responded: "Lapid, it is very unfortunate that you chose to echo Hamas' messages. If we listen to you and your friends and surrender - Hamas will return to control Gaza, the blood of our fighters will be in vain and the next massacre is only a matter of time. Instead of standing by the State of Israel, you chose to raise a white flag and serve the enemy. Shame on you."
Communications Minister Shlomo Karai responded: "What are our fighters in Gaza supposed to think when the opposition chairman spits on their achievements and calls them an 'absolute disaster'? It took less than a month for Lapid to join Liberman and slander IDF fighters who are making their lives miserable on the battlefield. After thousands of attacks, assassinations, and the destruction of infrastructure - he demands to stop the war and leave Hamas on the fences just to get a 'time out.' He talks about a 'comprehensive deal for everyone,' but forgets to specify - what will happen if Hamas cheats again? Will it leave hostages? Will it become stronger again? This is not a 'comprehensive deal' - this is a total surrender. This is not how you return hostages. This is how you lose a country."
The CEO of the Religious Zionist Party, Yehuda Wald, also joined the harsh criticism: "The head of the opposition in Israel calls for raising a white flag and surrendering to a terrorist organization that murdered and massacred our brothers and sisters. Leaving Hamas in Gaza and endangering the lives of the residents of the south in another massacre. That's it. No punch."
Patriots panelist Yotam Zimri responded on the show to opposition leader Yair Lapid, who claimed that "based on intelligence and operational information" if we don't end the war now, the kidnapped will not return: "I will also tell the citizens of Israel that I too am exposed to intelligence-operational information, and it is unequivocally false. This is what the information says, there is really a red nose in the middle of the information."
According to Zimri, "There's this clown, he's the opposition chairman. This is about the opposition chairman. What does 'we go in and out and they consolidate' mean? You suggest leaving - what do you think they'll do with this area? You say it yourself, they'll consolidate it."
Presenter Yinon Magal added: "What will they do with the kidnapped? Okay, we're leaving. How do we return the kidnapped?" And Zamri concluded with an anecdote: "If Yair Lapid had been the chairman of the opposition during the War of Independence, he would have said in the middle - 'Guys, we lost half a percent of the population, we don't need a state, let's go back to Europe.' We will remain patient, despite the difficulties, we will believe that we are going to victory."
