Amit Segal, the senior political commentator for News 12, commented today (Monday) on the Supreme Court's decision, which accepted the Lavi organization's petition regarding the right of Economy Minister Nir Barkat to discuss his request to terminate the term of Competition Commissioner Michal Cohen - despite the position of Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister Gali Baharav-Miara, who opposed it.

Segal attacked the attorney general, claiming that if we don't agree that this is harassment of the government, then we must at least admit that this is unprofessional work.
"The attorney general's defeat in the High Court is not another loss," the commentator reminded. "This is the third or fourth time this month that the attorney general claims that her client's position is illegal, unworthy of defense, acts against him in court, and then loses to her client."
Segal added: "If we don't buy the government's claim that this was a deliberate action against the government, then we must agree that this is poor professional work."
As reported in Haredim 10, the Supreme Court today accepted, by a majority of two to one, the Lavi organization's petition demanding that the Minister of Economy be allowed to discuss the request to terminate the term of the Competition Commissioner.
The legal advisor to the government claimed that the decision was tainted with illegality, and presented a position to the High Court that contradicted the government's position - even though she is supposed to represent it.
