The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment today (Monday) with the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court against Yair Krindi, a 22-year-old Haredi youth from Bnei Brak, who brutally attacked a 74-year-old protester during a protest for the return of the kidnapped that took place about a week ago at Begin Junction in Tel Aviv - causing him serious injuries.

According to the indictment, Krindi arrived at the intersection, which was blocked by protesters to traffic for several minutes so that the names of the kidnapped could be read, while riding his motorcycle at high speed. "He rode at high speed and in a reckless manner that endangered human life, and drove towards the elderly protester who was standing with the signs and demanded that he clear the road."
When the protester refused to move, "the defendant pushed him to the side of the road and attacked him with fists in his face while he was in a state of rage."
After the attack, Krindi fled the scene, "leaving the victim bleeding and with numerous injuries."
His brain suffered numerous injuries, and he was taken to Ichilov Hospital for medical treatment.
The indictment accuses Krindi of committing the offenses of assaulting an elderly person causing injury and driving a vehicle negligently, which is likely to endanger human life.
The prosecution is asking the court to order the defendant's continued detention until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
The arrest request stated that the defendant had proven through his actions that he posed a danger to the public, as he attacked an older person with severe violence and cruelty, without any danger being directed towards him.
