In recent weeks, the Central District's central unit has been conducting an extensive and covert investigation into a 'Georgian gang' consisting of 6 accomplices, who operated across the country against elderly victims in their 70s and 90s.
Fast track or regular track: will you decide how to receive your money?
The gang is suspected of theft, receiving something by fraud, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
During the investigation, the unit's police officers were able to locate and compile over 100 cases suspected of being linked to the same cell with similar criminal characteristics, in which complaints were filed by elderly people all over the country - including the Sheflera region, Gush Dan, Ashdod and Haifa.
The investigation was conducted in cooperation with all professional bodies, including security officers from credit card companies, public transportation, and banks.

As the investigation developed, while examining the evidence and various documentary findings, suspicion arose of an identical criminal method of action, according to which the members of the cell, in their 30s, "crushed" the elderly victim with their bodies on the bus in the shape of a 'sandwich', preventing the elderly person from escaping, and at the same time another cell member pocketed the elderly person's wallet and mobile phone from his bag, after which they withdrew money from their account using various methods, amounting to more than one and a half million shekels.
This morning (Monday), as the investigation moved into the open phase, after collecting the necessary evidence, the Maritime Police Department detectives arrested the suspects - residents of the central and southern regions, along with searching and seizing various findings relevant to the investigation, and in accordance with its needs, they will be brought to a hearing in court, with a request to extend their detention.
