IDF spokesman, Brigadier General Efi Dufferin, issued a statement this evening (Sunday) about increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Fast track or regular track: will you decide how to receive your money?
"We continue to lead a humanitarian aid movement while the fighting continues - to prevent famine in Gaza. We secure compounds, facilitate convoys and carry out airdrops of aid. We have defined humanitarian corridors and allowed pauses in the fighting so that civilians can receive aid."
He emphasized: "There is a false campaign by Hamas and I make it clear: There is no hunger in Gaza. We are monitoring the nutritional situation and acting in accordance with international law. I emphasize: We care more about the residents of Gaza than Hamas. It is trying to hinder the arrival of humanitarian aid. It is deliberately harming its citizens. Hamas is no longer the address for the citizens of Gaza."
According to him, "The IDF is operating vigorously in the Gaza Strip, systematically and thoroughly, dismantling every terrorist infrastructure. In every area we reach, we are preventing Hamas from re-establishing its rule in the area."
"Our mission is clear: to return the kidnapped and to collapse the Hamas regime in Gaza."
He told the media: "I am here at the Kerem Shalom crossing. Behind me are boxes full of food and medical equipment, all intended for the residents of Gaza. It is important for me to emphasize - Israel is not blocking humanitarian aid. We allow aid to enter every day.
This week alone, more than 250 trucks were moved with Israeli coordination and approval. About 600 more were collected by international organizations inside Gaza. And yet, as you can see behind me, there are still boxes full of supplies waiting to be collected and distributed.
To reach even more residents, the IDF carried out a humanitarian aid airdrop operation, led by the IDF and with international aid organizations. In addition, we are now implementing daily tactical pauses and designated corridors to allow safe movement for the distribution of aid.
This war is complex. Its price is painful for both sides. We must not forget the tragedy that Hamas brought upon both the citizens of Israel and the residents of Gaza by starting a war and using civilian areas as human shields. In this war, Hamas exploits its own population, it takes over humanitarian aid to continue its operations, and it uses the suffering of civilians to advance its agenda.
"I will say this clearly - Israel supports aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, not Hamas. The IDF will continue to support the flow of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza. We will return the kidnapped people home, and we will defeat Hamas. We will complete our mission while maintaining the values that define the IDF, even under fire."
