Tomorrow (Monday) indictments will be filed against seven defendants - residents of Yarka, Jat, Baqa al-Gharbiya, and Segev Shalom.
The police gave the incident the name "Hourglass."
It is suspected that soldiers were involved in removing weapons from bases and assembly areas.
The investigation was opened about a year ago, following information about the leakage of large quantities of military weapons. During the initial operations, three significant shipments were thwarted, in which explosive devices, tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition and other materials were seized.
Among the most prominent concepts:
▪️ On 07/06/24, two Tamra residents were arrested after a chase near the Yavor Junction and 10 explosive devices were found in their possession (indictments were filed).
▪️ On 11/22/24, two residents of Ma'ale Iron were arrested at the Megiddo Junction and approximately 20,000 rounds of ammunition were found in their possession (indictments were filed).
▪️ On 11/25/24, a resident of Kafr Qassem was arrested on Highway 6 near Yokneam and approximately 5,000 rounds of ammunition were found in her possession (an indictment was filed).
After the significant seizures and after receiving intelligence indications of the transfer of weapons to terrorist elements in Judea and Samaria, a joint investigation began with the General Security Service, which became public in June, during which security forces raided several targets in the territories of the State of Israel and the Palestinian Authority and arrested several suspects involved in the affair.
In a raid on the central warehouse from which weapons were supplied in the settlement of Yarka, the following were seized:
As the investigation progressed, investigators were able to collect evidence indicating the gang's working methods:
▪️ Selling weapons to terrorist elements through a suspect, a resident of Jat in the Triangle.
▪️ Barter trade of weapons brought into Israel through the southern border in exchange for ammunition.
▪️ Trade in all means of warfare to the highest bidder in the criminal world.
It also emerged during the interrogation of the Jat resident that, in addition to the crimes of arms trafficking, the suspect himself participated in a number of shooting attacks against IDF fighters and security forces operating in the Judea and Samaria territories.
As stated in the investigation, indictments will be submitted tomorrow to the Haifa District Court through the Haifa District Attorney's Office against seven people involved in the case, in their 20s and 30s, residents of Yarka, Jat (center), Baqa al-Gharbia, and Segev Shalom.
Two additional suspects in their 20s, residents of Shweika and Silat al-Kh, in the territories, are still in custody and the investigation into their case is continuing with the assistance of the Attorney General's Office.
